Definitions

open access (OA) literature: Is digital, online, free of charge, and free of most copyright and licensing restrictions. (Peter Suber)

green OA: Refers to materials that, regardless of where else they appear, are made available at no charge in an online open access repository committed to long-term preservation. Journals are called "green" if they permit authors to self-archive their articles in OA repositories. (Jill Cirasella)

gold OA: Refers to publishing with publishers who automatically and immediately make the work available online to all at no cost. (Jill Cirasella)

OA Journals

When you search the Library's journal finder, the results include open access journals that are listed in a handful of open access directories, including the most prominent Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ). You can also search and browse journals by going to directly to DOAJ at the link below.
